IP Blocking
Discover more about IP blocking, why it can be so advantageous and when to use it.
If you notice a major increase in the online traffic to your website and in case after you look at the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from places around the world or from other web servers, your website is most likely being attacked by an automatic bot. Those programs go through random Internet sites aiming to log in to their administration area through a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments beneath any sort of article where such an option is made available. Unfortunately, this is something quite popular in recent times, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you may block them, so the bots will not be able to access your website in any way. Needless to say, you'll be able to block IPs even if you allow only people from specific countries to access your Internet site.
IP Blocking in Shared Website Hosting
If you order a shared website hosting from us, you shall be able to see detailed traffic stats for all of your sites and if you notice that a considerable amount of the visits to each of them aren't real, you can block the IP addresses which have created the most traffic by using our IP Blocking tool. The interface is very simple - pick the needed domain or subdomain from a drop-down list, then type in the IP address that you'd like to block and save the change. All of the addresses which you have blacklisted will appear in the same exact section of the CP, so that you can always remove any one of them and enable it to access your Internet site again. You can block entire IP ranges through the tool as well - you just need to leave 1 or 2 octets from the address blank. For instance, entering 1.2.3. will block all 254 IPs from 1.2.3.1 to 1.2.3.255.
