An access log is a thorough list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a certain website. Every file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have one page with three embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the 6 files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, worldwide web browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your site. The data an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a website, aside from the web stats which your web hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Shared Website Hosting

If you get a shared website hosting from us, you'll be able to decide if access logs must be produced and for which domains or subdomains in your account this should be done. You could enable this option from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, integrated with all shared accounts. Every domain you host or subdomain you create will be listed there and you will see an On/Off option next to each and every one of them, so you can conveniently enable or disable the generation of access logs individually for every single website that you have. You could save a log to your personal computer by clicking on the Download link that you'll see inside the same exact section of the Control Panel. The link will be available even after you stop the log generation, so you'll still have access to the data collected by our system.
